We have been in need of a steak knife set. After reading many reviews I kept seeing the Victorinox 4-3/4-Inch Straight-Edge Pointed-Tip Steak Knife, Set of 6, Rosewood Handles mentioned over and over as great steak knives.
First the knives are not serrated. A serrated knife will not sharpen so that’s a no go since we are going to be cutting lots of steak!! Second this set of knives is reasonably priced. We were willing to go cheap, but another brand that was mentioned looked a bit on the cheesey side. They only come in a multicolor set. Third, multiple reviews from forums and different knife review sites all had the same thing to say. Basically in blind tests with house guests these knives always won out.
The first test was searing a steak to see just how great these steak knives would cut through the meat. My fiance first commented on how sharp they were to cut through the roughly 6 minute prepared steak. Then I went in for the cut. Wow, like butter. Actually more like a blazing hot ice cream scoop going through you guessed it, ice cream. We have a Japanese knife, JCK Original KAGAYAKI CarboNext Series KC-6 Gyuto 240mm, and Kyocera Revolution 3-Piece Ceramic Knife Set and none of these cut through steak like the Victorinox. Now that we have the nice new kitchen and some new steak knives, its time to cook!
